Applicants Personality Article

The article on the screening of personalities makes a good point. By checking the personality of an individual before you hire them, you can avoid alot of pain for both parties involved. If I would have had a compatability review before working this summer, I could have realized that the possition was unorganized and may have been able to avoid it. By letting the perspective employee know as much about the company's life style as possible, the only the most dedicated employees will stay. The article stated that employers are trying to week out individuals who want the job because it "sounds like fun", and do not know what it really intails. My summer internship sounded like fun because I liked the company. I did not realize how small and distant my section of the company was from the fun cutting edge aspect I was looking for.
The only part of the argument for extensive compatability screening was the discrimination factor. The individual that may be the best for the possition, may be that way because of their unique perspective. This perspective might not be condusive with the rest of the goup, but this could be exactly what is needed. If too many alike people work together, there will be no one to play devils advocate when a truly bad idea is on the table.

P.S. My spell check did not work on this article....
